Politicians: Legislators and Governor

Legislators and the governor are elected officials and are affected by:

• Citizens who vote for them
• Lobbyists and special interest groups (e.g., teacher’s unions, business interests, advocacy groups)
• Political party values
• Campaign donors

The governor is an executive leader who can help or hinder attempts to improve schools by agendas that he or she supports.
